We are currently seeking to fill the position of AME Structures Apprentice. The AME Structures Apprentice is responsible to assist on heavy, line and shop maintenance in a safe and efficient manner.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The AME Apprentice is a learning role and is responsible to learn through action in the following key areas:

Safety: Applies safe work practices in all job duties. This involves:

  • Wearing all appropriate personal protective equipment
  • Understanding and applying the Risk Management System
  • Maintaining good housekeeping standards
  • Understanding and applying safe handling practices with the aircraft

Documentation: Learning general KF Aerospace paperwork and parts ordering which involves:

  • Ensuring appropriate documentation is complete for their work and submitting to an endorsed AME or Shift Lead for ACA approval
  • Sourcing required technical information in maintenance manuals in an accurate and timely manner as required
  • Utilizing the services of Stores and Tool Crib in a professional and efficient manner to obtain required supplies and tooling

Project Maintenance: Works under close supervision to assist with line or shop maintenance projects, involving:

  • Responding positively to work direction from Shift Lead or senior AMEs
  • Working cooperatively with other members of the crew
  • Taking initiative to work to full capabilities
  • Showing ability to retain information and apply learning’s to similar situations
  • Completing assigned tasks in a timely manner
  • Taking responsibility for quality of own work and fixing mistakes where required
  • Engaging in basic trouble shooting on assigned tasks
  • Reporting to the Shift Lead any unserviceable condition discovered

Demonstrated Technical Skills: The AME Apprentice is expected to be able to demonstrate their capability to perform the following technical functions:

  • Ability to use and test all standard tools
  • Basic inspection tasks
  • Design, layout a basic SRM repair with minimal assistance
  • Full understanding of basic aircraft manuals
  • Full understanding of safe operation of all equipment
  • Familiar with and capable of safely operating ground equipment (EOC)

REQUIREMENTS 

  • Must be an AME graduate from a Transport Canada approved technical school or course
  • Attend training courses as directed by company management
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic
  • Safety aware and conscious
  • Willing to take initiative
  • Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Able to work effectively independently and as part of a team
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Intranet
  • Good oral and written communication skills
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job

HOURS OF WORK

  • This is a shift work position which will require you to work days, nights, and weekends

After an Apprentice has received their Transport Canada license, their wage increases to $28.56 After becoming Licensed, there is also room to grow into Senior and Shift Lead roles, which move into a higher wage bracket.
