Job Description

NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul Services is currently accepting Foreign Worker applications for Journeyperson All Terrain Crane Operators with demonstrated experience ranging from 100 tonne to 500 tonne cranes. These positions will be based just north of Fort McMurray, Alberta, Canada to support major plant shutdowns starting in March of 2023.  Wages, including employer contributions to the Health and Wellness, Pension and Training Plans, and all other employment terms and conditions will be based on the International Union of Operating Engineers Crane Rental Collective Agreement.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
  • Assemble/Disassemble cranes.
  • Know and follow road and crane regulations.
  • Perform pre-operational inspections including hazard assessments, calculating crane capabilities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting.
  • Operate mobile to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials.
  • Safely and effectively follow rigger’s signals.
  • Perform routine maintenance of crane equipment.
  • Represents the company, help to resolve any customer concerns in professional manner.
  • Following and adhering to all site rules at all times.
  • Attend toolbox meetings in a constructive and contributive manner.
The successful candidate(s) will possess the following:
  • Journeyperson Crane Operator with Class 1 (preferred) or Class 3 (accepted) licenses that can operate All Terrain vehicles up to 500 tonnes.
  • To drive a mobile crane weighing between 3.5 and 7.5 tonnes a Category C1 Driving License is required and a Category C License if the crane is over 7.5 tonnes.
  • Mandatory safety tickets will be required and will vary according to site location.
  • Prior experience operating All Terrain vehicles ranging in sizes (Liebherr, Tadano, and Grove crane makes).
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively.
  • Ability to remain alert and maintain a high level of concentration.
  • Fluency in reading, writing and speaking English.
  • Good interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
  • Understands the operations and limitations of the equipment.
  • Must be willing to join Operating Engineers Local 955 Union.
  • ​Wage ranges provided as per the collective agreement.
  • Duration could be from 6 weeks to 5 months depending on operational requirements of subsequent turnarounds available.
  • Schedule rotations range from: 6 days on 1 day off, 12 days on 2 days off, or 18 days on 3 days off.
  • Minimum 60 hours/week, averaging 10-12 hour days. Overtime will be paid at 1.5 times and 2 times the basic rate of pay.
  • Free living/Camp accommodations, private rooms and bathrooms, 3 meals/day, recreation facilities included.
  • Wage + 10.4% vacation/holiday pay offered.
  • Environment will be a plant site with potential exposure to dust, noise and vibration.
  • Return and final flight provided.
