Job Description

Copper Mountain Mine is a large-scale open pit copper mine located in south central British Columbia. The mine has evolved into a mature and highly efficient operation with a long term mine plan and significant opportunity for mine life extension. The Senior Metallurgist (Job Code 2022-035) reporting to the Chief Metallurgist you will be responsible for the safe and efficient performance of test programs/plant work to optimize mill performance. Working closely with technical personnel, operations, and maintenance personnel.

Your work will include:

  • Actively participate in all Environmental, Health and Safety aspects of the mine and assure all safety
    procedures and programs are effectively being followed.
  • Maintaining reagent systems, installing pumping systems, maintaining ready spares and parts for all
    system responsibility (buckets, samples, spargers, pumps etc.)
  • Monitor reagent and ball inventories and copper inventories
  • Check auto samplers for cleanliness and pumps for operability
  • Set up and keep up to date spreadsheets to monitor copper inventory
  • Reagent pump calibrations, sampler cleanings, column sparger change outs
  • Provide technical metallurgical support for flotation operations
  • Provide guidance and mentorship across technical and operations teams
  • Help with long range planning and process improvement initiatives with respect to mine to mill and recovery
  • Perform other duties as required.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • 5-year mine metallurgy experience
  • Base metal flotation exposure required
  • Experience at an operating Mill an asset
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft office programs
  • Strong communicator – bridge between technical and operational teams
  • Collaborative, hands-on approach
  • Ability to coach and mentor teams
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must pass pre-employment medical, drug and alcohol testing.

WORK ENVIRONMENT?

  • Scenic travel to and from mine site.
  • Manual dexterity required to use desktop computer and peripherals.
  • Lifting or moving up to 10lbs may be required.
  • Occasional overtime.

Compensation and Benefits Copper Mountain Mine offers a competitive wage, a comprehensive benefit package including RRSP contributions. There is no camp provision at Copper Mountain Mine.
