Job Description
The British Columbia Maritime Employers Association (BCMEA) and the International Longshore & Warehouse Union Local 505 are hiring Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanics.

Successful candidates will be capable of operating mobile equipment, working at heights and be available to work all shifts as necessary. RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACTIVITIES:
- Perform repairs and maintenance on heavy duty equipment
- Diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, hydraulic and electronic failures
- Perform complex troubleshooting of diesel and gasoline engine powered industrial equipment and related electronic control
- Troubleshoot and repair a variety of small engine driven equipment such as pumps, welders, air compressors, cut-off saws, etc.
- Test repairs to ensure proper and safe completion
- Thorough and accurate completion of production related paperwork and administration.
- Work in a safe manner in accordance with WorkSafe BC
- Maintain a clean and tidy work environment
- Make recommendations for improvements, modification, upgrades and report findings to foreman
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic with industrial experience
- Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required
- Aptitude for critical thinking and the ability to resolve issues in a timely manner
- Proficient in English
- Valid Forklift ticket preferred
- Ability to lift heavy items – 75lb minimum
