Your electrical and instrumentation expertise support your ability to maintain the safe and reliable operations of a processing facility. To ensure the best results, you bring your team together with your excellent communications and interpersonal skills. If this sounds like you, then you’ll be a great fit for our Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Electrical and Instrumentation Technician 2 role.

Joining our LNG Operations group, you’ll be the subject matter expert for instrumentation, controls, and electrical at the Tilbury LNG plant. This includes performing maintenance work related to prevention, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs in your area of expertise.

  • Shall perform all duties associated with LNG facilities, inspection, trouble shooting, operation and maintenance of electrical and instrumentation equipment.
  • Shall support with the predictive analysis and preventative maintenance schedules and planning.
  • Shall prepare comprehensive documentation of construction, inspection, commission, operation and maintenance work.
  • Shall direct the work of other employees and contractors as it relates to LNG facility maintenance activities.
  • Shall ensure safe, reliable and efficient operation of the workgroup, as it relates to these duties and responsibilities.
  • Required to respond to emergencies and plant process upsets.
  • Shall keep abreast of changing technology as it relates to the “Duties and Responsibilities”.
  • In the event there is insufficient work as outlined above or more urgent work elsewhere, they may be temporarily scheduled for work for which they are qualified in other facilities and/or departments as applicable.
  • Will be required to work shifts and provide on call/stand-by coverage.


  • Completion of an Instrumentation and Control Technician (Industrial Instrument Mechanic)
  • Certification of qualification, or Instrument Technologist AND an Industrial Electrician Certificate of qualification.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as an industrial Electrician in areas including, but not limited to 480V and higher; UPS systems for critical industrial infrastructure; supporting high voltage Substation equipment; supporting maintenance programs for electric drives and MCC’s; and CSA Canadian Electrical Code;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience with process plant equipment including, but not limited, to supporting DCS and PLC systems; process control logic programming; maintenance of pressure, temperature, level and flow instrumentation; supporting fire and gas detection systems; and supporting industrial ESD and interlocks.
  • Familiarity with current technological advancements in the areas of instrumentation, electronics and computer application as it relates to these fields.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Field Safety Representative A certification.
  • Demonstrated safe work habits and adherence to safety regulation and practices including codes, standards, procedures, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot and overhaul plant equipment as needed.
  • Demonstrated high level of quality performance, initiative, responsibility, organization skills and ability to make timely and appropriate decisions using a collaborative, tactful approach with others.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively in verbal, written and electronic form.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, contribute to, and work effectively in a team environment.
  • A valid British Columbia Class ‘5’ driver’s license, with a provided driver’s abstract.
  • Grade 12 or equivalent.

Additional Information

An LNG Electrical & Instrumentation Technician 2 will progress to an LNG Electrical & Instrumentation Technician 1 upon the completion of the following:

  • Two (2) years of experience as an Electrical & Instrumentation Technician 2 or equivalent experience at an LNG facility.
  • Demonstrated competency in all of the LNG Electrical & Instrumentation Technician 2 qualifications.
