Stuart Olson is currently seeking a Journeyperson Electrician for an immediate start date at one of our client sites in Fort McMurray. AB. The successful individual will have experience working on large industrial and mining equipment.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Compensation is in line with industry standards and includes benefits and RRSPs
  • Flights are provided from Edmonton and Calgary with a Shift is 7 days on, 7 days off
  • Camp Accommodation provided
  • Working in the shop and in the field on high voltage electrical equipment and large mining equipment
  • Transformer monitoring and maintenance dry and oil bath types
  • Plan new or modify installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes
  • Trouble shoot electrical equipment, including 120V-5kV circuitry, control systems
  • Install, troubleshoot, and repair faulty equipment and systems
  • Must have previous experience working on large mining equipment
  • Experience installing, troubleshooting and providing PM on Fatigue Management and Collision Avoidance systems; ideally with Hexagon
  • Experience working with high voltage equipment doing energizing and de-energizing breakers and switch gear is an asset
  • Computer basics in Excel, Word and Outlook
  • SAP experience is an asset
  • Excellent focus on client customer satisfaction
  • Valid Driver’s license and with a 3 year abstract
Required Tickets & Certifications
  • Certified Journeyperson Electrician
  • OSSA Regional Orientation, CSO Common Safety Orientation, BSO Basic Safety Orientation or PST Petroleum Safety Training
  • H2s Awareness
  • Fall Arrest Energy Safety Canada endorsed
  • Confined Space an asset
  • Aerial Work Platform Energy Safety Canada endorsed
  • Basic electrical hand tools
Working Conditions
  • Compliance to site specific Pre-Access drug and alcohol test is required
  • Working both indoors and outdoors often in inclement hot and cold weather conditions
  • A physical job that includes working at heights, in and around noise and dust
  • Must be clean shaven
  • Personal safety equipment will be required, e.g. steel-toed safety boots
