Job Description

We are currently seeking Journeymen Millwrights with industrial experience, preferably in the Forest Industry, to join our sawmill operations located on beautiful Vancouver Island, BC (relocation assistance can be provided).

We have currently have vacancies at the following sawmills:  

  • Port Alberni 
  • Saltair (Ladysmith, BC), and;
  • Cowichan Bay
  • Nanaimo 

These are hourly United Steel Worker (USW) union positions with a competitive wage rate ($45.32/hour), benefits and pension. Shifts vary depending on site. Please inquire within to learn more.

These positions are considered safety sensitive, all successful candidates will be subject to a pre-employment drug test.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, Millwrights are required to safely perform quality work, provide support services, and perform preventative maintenance processes that pertain to optimum mechanical performance of our facility including, but not limited to:

  • Repairs or replacements of mechanical components & machinery
  • Rigging and slinging
  • Troubleshooting mechanical machinery
  • Welding repairs
  • Hot work and lock out protocols
  • Knowledge of hydraulic systems

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent safety record and strong work ethic
  • Preferred candidates will be Red Seal Certified. Other Trades/Engineering Certification with proven mechanical maintenance and repair experience may be considered
  • Highly motivated team player with excellent time management skills
  • Accountable and dependable
  • Creative and innovating thinking, logical problem solving, and a desire to participate in an organization committed to continuous improvement
