Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW:

NCSG Crane & Heavy Haul Services is currently accepting applications for experienced Journeyman Crane Operators for the upcoming turnaround at Syncrude. Crane operators with experience on AT’s, RT”s required. The Crane Operator is responsible for effectively performing Lifting and Rigging Services. Wage will be based on the Crane Rental Collective Agreement. In addition NCSG will make employer contributions to the unionized Health and Wellness, Pension and Training Plans.
LOA OF $195.00 OR $70.00 PER CALENDAR DAY WORKED AVAILABLE FOR QUALIFED OPERATORS DETAILS LISTED BELOW.
Your success will be defined by your ability to:
  • Assemble/Disassemble cranes
  • Know and follow road and crane regulations
  • Perform pre-operational inspections including hazard assessments, calculating crane capabilities and weight to prepare for rigging and hoisting
  • Operate mobile to lift, move, position or place equipment and materials
  • Perform routine maintenance
  • Represents the company, help to resolve any customer concerns in professional manner. Following all site rules and adhering to at all times
  • Attend toolbox meetings in a constructive and contributive manner
QUALIFICATIONS:
The successful candidate(s) will possess the following:
  • Journeyman Red Seal Mobile Crane Certification.
  • 3rd year Apprentices will be considered.
  • Valid Class 1 or 5 License preferred. Mus provide a current commercial abstract that meets NCSG’s Compliance Standard.
  • CSTS 2020, CSO, H2S Alive and Fall Protection.
  • Prior experience operating AT’s up to 120 ton Liebherr required.
  • RT experience on 100T Tadano.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively.
  • Ability to remain alert and maintain a high level of concentration.
  • Good interpersonal skills and customer service orientation.
  • Understands the operations and limitations of the equipment.
  • Mechanical ability to make minor repairs when needed.
POSITION DETAILS:
  • LOA OF $195.00 PER CALENDAR DAY WORKED WILL BE  PROVIDED FOR EXPERIENCED AT OPERATORS LIVING LOCALLY. 
  • LOA OF $70.00 PER CALENDAR DAY WORKED WILL BE PROVIDED FOR EXPERIENCED AT OPERATORS STAYING IN CAMP.
  • FORT MCMURRAY UPLIFT OF $70.00 PER CALENDAR DAY WORKED WILL BE PROVIDED FOR EXPERIENCED RT OPERATORS WITH ACCOMMODATIONS IN FORT MCMURRAY.
  • DAILY KM’S FROM TOWN WILL BE PAID. 
  • Camp provided. No jack and Jill washrooms.  
  • Travel Assistance Protocol (Flights) in place. 
  • 6 & 1 / 12 & 2 schedules, other scheduled could be considered.  
  • 10 – 12 hours per day. 
  • Duration will be 4 – 8 weeks with a potential to move over to Suncor’s turnaround in September. 
  • Must be or willing to join Operating Engineers Local 955 Union. Current members must be in good standing.
  • OPERATING ENGINEERS FROM OTHER LOCALS (TRAVEL CARDS) WITH RELEVANT EXPERIENCE WILL BE ACCEPTED.
  • NON UNION MEMBERS WITH RELEVANT EXPERIENCE WILL BE ACCPETED.
  • ​Wages as per the collective agreement.​
