The Buildings and Facilities group in Toronto provide mechanical and electrical design for all types of buildings in the commercial, institutional, recreational and multi-residential market. Our clients and projects and varied and diverse. The office is a high energy workspace where we work closely as a team to meet the requirements and deadlines of our clients.

We are looking for an Intermediate Engineer with minimum 5 years’ experience in Mechanical design for buildings, including HVAC, plumbing and drainage and fire protection, to join our growing team.

How will you contribute to the team?

To perform this role successfully, the candidate will be responsible for but not limited to the following:

  • Independent design of small and medium projects and portions of larger complex projects.
  • Prepare mechanical specifications.
  • Provide site take-offs.
  • Attend co-ordination meetings for projects.
  • Obtain information from equipment suppliers and incorporate in designs and specifications.
  • Co-ordinate with Utilities and Municipalities regarding incoming services.
  • Assist in drafting in AutoCAD on an as needed basis as well as Revit modelling.
  • Independent review of shop drawings.
  • Provide technical directions to junior designers and CAD operators.
  • Deal with problems with Contractor during construction.

What will you contribute?

Qualifications –

  • University degree in mechanical engineering.
  • P.Eng designation is an asset.
  • Minimum 5 years design experience.
  • Experience in designing building services in a variety of building types.
  • Track record of independent design of HVAC, Plumbing and Drainage and fire protection for buildings.
  • Familiarity with relevant building codes and standards.

Skills Required –

  • Familiarity with design requirements for HVAC, Plumbing and Drainage and fire protection for buildings.
  • Effective communication and inter-personal skills.
  • Commitment to working in a team environment.
  • Ability to work on several projects at one time.
  • Working knowledge of all applicable building codes and industry standards.
  • Extensive skills with AUTOCAD, Word, Acrobat & Excel (REVIT and other design tools an asset).
