Role Summary: 

Bouchier is looking for a HVAC Journeyperson who is ambitious, hardworking and eager to learn new skills while supporting the organization in a variety of roles. They ensure the heating, cooling and ventilation systems in a building are always operational. This entails routine inspections and installation of new wiring systems. The HVAC Journeyperson makes recommendations pertaining to improvements that can be made. Repairing old parts and testing new parts are important tasks.

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Assemble and install refrigeration or air conditioning components,
  • Measure, cut and connect piping using welding and brazing equipment,
  • Perform routine maintenance and servicing,
  • Install, troubleshoot, repair and overhaul entire heating, ventilation, air handling, refrigeration and air conditioning systems,
  • Handle, recover and store refrigerants,
  • Test and repair electronic components,
  • Work from blueprints or verbal instructions to mount or place system components
  • Check all parts of a system
  • Oil moving parts
  • Keep units filled with refrigerant
  • Adjusting valves.
  • Provide training, mentorship and support for Apprentices as required
  • Other duties as assigned

Education & Experience:

  • Alberta-certified journeyperson or a recognized related trade certificate
  • 3-5 years’ relevant experience in refrigeration
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License
  • CSTS and OSSA Regional Orientation or OSSA BSO (Basic Safety Orientation before December 31, 2018) or CSO (Common Safety Orientation after January 1, 2019)
  • Strong mechanical ability and problem-solving skills
  • Good co-ordination and manual dexterity
  • Ability to troubleshoot and rectify a large variety of operational problems
  • Good physical strength and stamina
  • Ability to work well with co-workers and deal with customers
  • Ability to get along well with others on a work team
