Experienced Lead Hands – Minimum 5 Years Experience in Civil Construction

TWINCON ENTERPRISES LTD. in Penticton specializes in civil earthworks, excavation and
rock breaking, drilling and blasting, and subdivision development. We are one of the fastest

With several projects currently underway in the South Okanagan, we are looking for
Experienced Lead Hands to join our team. For this role, you will have a minimum of 5 years
experience in civil construction. Reporting to the Site Superintendent, the Lead Hand will
coordinate the team and is responsible for applying policies and procedures. He/She will
be involved with, and supportive of, disciplinary actions brought about by Site
Superintendents. Other duties may include arranging for extra workers, organizing crew
tasks, maintaining work standards, resolving issues between team members, and
mentoring apprentices.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conducting morning toolbox meeting
  • Leading the Stretch & Flex Program
  • Completing Field Level Hazard Assessment
  • Submitting supply requests
  • Receiving materials on site
  • Completing weekly site inspections
  • Completing daily production reports
  • Onsite measurements
  • Complete utility locates and layout
  • Grading experience (laser level / pipe level)
  • Drawing review and comprehensive understanding of elevations
  • Rigging inspections
  • Confined space inspections
  • Tool care and maintenance
  • Quality control checks
  • Equipment inspections
  • Material inventory checks

To set yourself up for success in this role, you will already have:

  • A minimum of 5 years experience in civil construction
  • Ability to recognize problem situations, evaluate, and produce workable solutions to a
    successful completion
  • Competence in areas of safety regulations, workforce management, project execution
    and quality control
  • Strong management and delegation skills and able to build trust and working
    relationships with subcontractors and team members
  • Have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation to and from work
  • Be punctual, reliable, and hardworking- Be willing to work extended hours (as needed)
