Job Description

We are currently recruiting for a fully qualified Boomman to work at our Kelsey Bay Dryland Sort out of our Menzies Bay Forestry Operations in Sayward, BC.

This is an hourly United Steel Worker (USW) union position with a wage rate of $34.12 and comprehensive benefits and pension.

This position is currently on a 6×3 shift, 6 days on and 3 days off, 8.6 hours per day.

  • Strip boomstick booms, and sort boomsticks (good, culls or shorts);
  • Inspect gear – remove gear that is worn and place on appropriate float for removal;
  • Operate a boom boat to sort bundles by sort identification tags or paint into the appropriate alleys;
  • Operate a boom boat to feed loose logs to the bundler;
  • Swifter booms prior to towing destination; and,
  • Cut down booms to be re-sorted.


  • Must be fully qualified in all aspects of the job with minimum of 2 years’ experience in BC Coastal Logging;
  • Preference may be given to the applicant holding valid OFA Level 3 certificate; and,
  • Excellent safety record and strong work ethic.
