Position Function: The Architectural Designer is a vibrant team player who contributes to delivering a superior service and product for Stattonrock’s clientele. Your innovative design and technical skill, together with collaboration from the greater design team, will result in drawings that are both functional and exceptional. You are a great listener, holding a posture of both curiosity and expertise, allowing you to bring a client’s initial concept to life. You are a thoughtful communicator who can articulately present drawings to a client in a way that allows them to enthusiastically move forward in the build process. You are a brand ambassador, supporting the vision of Stattonrock while delivering outstanding client service and professionally and accurately fulfilling the role.

Reports To:
Project + Design Manager

Key Position Objectives + Performance Indicators (measured quarterly):

  • Meet with clients (on and off site) to discover their vision and design needs and interpret that to create innovative and elevated plans
  • Site measures as required for renovations
  • Create preliminary drawings of floorplans/elevations and coordinating revisions with client while keeping the overall budget in mind
  • Create construction/permit drawings for custom homes and renovations
  • Able to work independently on concept plans and permit drawings
  • Analyze sites to identify any challenges, able to research municipalities as required for zoning to ensure project meets all the municipal requirements for the property
  • Understand BC building code and structure, and applying it to the drawings during design phase
  • Understand RSI calculations and limiting distances
  • Able to check work for accuracy and problem solve
  • Coordinate with engineers, municipalities or other professionals as needed
  • Deliver outstanding, professional and friendly client service
  • Be an exceptional, collaborative team player
  • Execute Systems and Processes with extreme accuracy, follow through and urgency
  • Research and apply innovation: Net Zero, Step Program, Green building initiatives, etc.
  • Continue education with a focus on residential design and architecture
  • Save files where required, keeping organized and current

Accountability – performance will be measured by:

  • Ability to get along with teammates and management and maintain a positive and constructive attitude while problem solving
  • Protect the mission, goals and values of Stattonrock.
  • Ability to serve clients and deliver an elevated Design + Build Experience.
  • Ability to communicate with all stakeholders. Open communication with Interior Designers and Project Managers – answering questions, detailing information to eliminate mistakes and questions further into the project.
  • Ability to manage Systems and Processes, deadlines and budgets.
  • Ability to implement new Changes and Processes and ensuring those changes are maintained moving forward.
  • Ability to produce exceptional, technical and accurate designs and build-ready plans. Verifying accuracy, adherence to client specifications; and ensuring compliance with applicable municipal regulations and standards.
  • Ability to keep organized on the Server as well as in CoConstruct.

What You Can Do:

  • 5+ years experience in a similar role
  • Minimum 5 years experience with Revit
  • Experience working on residential projects including planning, designing and drafting
  • Experience working with clients and team to produce designs that are innovative and current
  • Advanced understanding of applicable, current, and up to date Building Code Part 9. Step Code experience an asset.
  • Navigate, understand & implement the different Municipalities permit requirements.
  • Experience of local municipalities an asset
  • Ability to effectively communicate with Engineers, Sub-Trades, Municipalities and any other agency as required.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Speed, accuracy and high attention to detail
  • Proficiency in Excel and Word
  • Familiarity with Co-Construct an asset
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills

Working Conditions: Office hours are Monday to Friday 8:00-4:30. Will be expected to travel as needed to company subsidiaries and attend further education seminars paid for by the company. Will be required to make site and client visits.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: $62,000.00-$79,000.00 per year
