4th Class Power Engineer
Reporting to the Chief Power Engineer, the 4th Class Power Engineer will be responsible for the safe, efficient, and cost-effective operation of the energy system. This role includes both rotating shift work as Assistant Shift Engineer and shifts performing duties of Maintenance Engineer.
Major duties and responsibilities include:
- Ensuring that all aspects of steam plant operation are performed safely and meet applicable standards
- Operate and maintain two hog-fired, high pressure steam boilers
- Maintain boiler feedwater treatment program
- Operate and maintain all steam plant auxiliary equipment
- Maintain all plant fire protection systems
- Work closely with skilled trades and production team members when troubleshooting and correcting upset conditions
Potential candidates must possess a 4th Class Power Engineer’s certificate, progression to a 3rd Class certificate will be encouraged. Candidates must also have a strong commitment to safety and to the success of the operation, possessing excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Experience in the maintenance of boilers and auxiliary equipment will be an asset.
